Carotid Stenting: Preventing Stroke Before It Happens

The carotid arteries supply oxygen-rich blood to the brain. When these arteries become narrowed due to plaque buildup, the risk of stroke increases significantly.

Carotid stenting is a minimally invasive procedure where a small metal mesh (stent) is placed in the artery to keep it open. This improves blood flow to the brain and reduces the risk of future strokes, especially in patients who are not ideal candidates for surgery.
